MC5 - Phun City Festival (1970)

Fred Smith, on his knees , his feet, his back ,jumping ,leaping through the air, firing his gun at the audience- machine fast, tripping over the boss and keeping the music coming. "The MC5, The MC5."
Too Much!

As far as I know this is the only recording that has ever surfaced from Phun City. It sounds like it might be an sound board or at least a SBD feed . Its starts out sounding a bit rough but then improves considerably, to be around a B+ grade . Its a very good set , with plenty of energy. Since the MC5 set was filmed, its conceivable that this is a sbd feed to adeck , or even the original. Now hows about releasing ALL the film and recordings of this historic festival ? Its criminal its sitting mouldering in a vault somewhere.

Set list.
Rambling Rose.
Tonight . Ramalama( Fa , Fa, Fa )
Miss X
Looking At You.
I want You ( dedicated to all the dirty people in the audience.)
Sister Anne .
Kick Out the Jams /Black to Comm

Available on the Sonic label, it may well be a boot, the catalogue number is SRDC00040.

Hi Pablo I am a great fan of your blog. I read a comment in "dive into yesterday" blog about the wheels belfast r&b heroes.
You sad that it's a very good group but all those songs are only there and shareonall doesn't exist no more. Can you please post it here if it's npt a problem?
Thanks

Veo que eres un gran fan de MC5. Yo la verdad es que nunca les he pillado el punto del todo. Me gustan, pero no me vuelven loco. Quizá Back in the USA.

MC5 A True Testimonial here

“It’s a great document of the band, it’s a great document of life, and it’s a great document of things ... far and beyond the band.” - Jackson Smith, Detroit-based musician son of Fred & Patti Smith

"Music so extraordinary that it transformed the lives of all who experienced it demands the release of a documentary that does the MC5 justice.  Few bands have ever seen so much go so wrong so quickly and have been so misunderstood in the process. A True Testimonial represents a belated opportunity to set things straight, put things right. The fans deserve it. So does the band. And so does the music." - Don McLeese, author of Kick Out The Jams (Continuum 33 1/3 series)
